For over 25 years, the Milford Haven Waterway Environmental Surveillance Group (MHWESG) has collected environmental information relating to the Milford Haven Waterway.

The information collected is varied, and includes bioaccumulation of contaminants, benthic and infaunal surveys, bird surveys as well as extensive studies relating to sediment contaminants.

The MHWESG manages an on-going programme of projects at any point in time. Some projects are commissioned annually e.g. the shelduck and wetland birds surveys. Others are commissioned on a triennial or more infrequent basis e.g. rocky shore surveys, macrobenthic sampling or bioaccumulation. For more information about current projects, please Contact Us.

The MHWESG encourages use of its reports and data for furthering academic research. Many of the Contractors who have been commissioned by the MHWESG to collect or review data have published papers in peer reviewed publications using MHWESG’s data.

Reports and data are also available for inclusion in Environmental Information Assessments (EIAs) for plans and projects relating to the Milford Haven Waterway. Members of the MHWESG also use reports and data for their own internal business needs (e.g. EIAs, monitoring, internal publications or reporting).
