– 25th Anniversary of the MHWESG

The Milford Haven Waterway Environmental Surveillance Group celebrated 25 years of successful collaborative working in April 2018.

The Port of Milford Haven hosted a celebratory event to mark the occasion with group members and their senior representatives, Welsh Government, Universities and Welsh Water. Attendance by contractors, retired Group members and previous chairs added to the completeness of the occasion.

Paul Howells, chair of the MHWESG, introduced a series of talks that showcased the work of the Group over the years and the value of the outputs to Group members.

Whilst local industry and membership have changed over the years, the high level of commitment and purpose from individuals involved with the MHWESG has continued throughout.

As well as financial contributions, members over the years have provided support through their expertise in project management and scientific knowledge. Along with the many accomplished contractors involved over the decades, this collaborative approach has resulted in a series of high-quality datasets that provide a measure of the environmental health of the waterway.
